My sorrow and sadness dwells on the fact that this statement is true.
But why is it true?
For me it's simple, people do not have any faith, people do not love. People do not let God change their hearts and therefore speak a false truth, by proclaiming freedom and living in chains, by speaking of love but never loving. They do not just hurt themselves, but others looking at them as examples of Jesus, and most of all, they hurt Jesus Christ by not allowing themselves to be truly and deeply loved and changed by His Holy Spirit.
"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I posses to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing"

This is what makes you different, this is the truth and the freedom of Christ's words, this is his promise to our lives, through the sacrifice on the cross and through the resurrection. He loves you so deeply.
Love sounds simple enough when you think of helping someone, you show how much you love by your actions, correct. But what if there is someone who is a criminal, who lost their job and now has to prostitute themselves out in order to buy food, would you put all you had into helping these people. If you met a refugee on a boat, would you help them? Or would you tell them that this is their own fault and must fix it themselves, but by the very fact of being on a boat it is evident that they cannot help themselves.
This Corinthians verse may not be very familiar to you, but I'm sure the next few verses of this chapter in Corinthians will...
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

For humans, this kind of love is impossible, it is impossible and naive to believe that you can love someone you do not know and may even despise by yourself. It is easy to love those who are loveable, but it is through loving your enemies that you show Christ Jesus, because "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26)
I do not wish to hurt anybody by this post, and if you are then maybe ask yourself why? Why is loving people hurting you? I will not hide my beliefs nor hide the gospel or Jesus Christ. Because the truth for me is that Jesus is love, and He loves me, there is nothing more important in this world the feeling love and being loved and giving love. I hope and pray that one day everyone can see this also.
